Completed The Family a few days ago. The book is rather awesome, I must say! I can’t rave enough about Kitty Kelley’s latest work, published only recently in February 2005.

It chronicled the lives of the Bush family, starting from their humble origins to how they accumulated their present wealth, mafia-like power and influence, and entrenched their present premier social status on their way to the White House.

The entire Bush clan did everything in their power to stop this book from being published. Bush spokesmen said facts in the book were irreputable…before the book was published. Even after it was published, they attempted to discredit the author, pulled strings with the insider media to ruin her professionally, and did other things equally bad, if not worse.

In my opinion, this has to be one of the most important books on American politics ever, extensively researched and writing about the most powerful American political dynasty in history. No other political family comes close, including the Adams family, and the Kennedy’s. Starting with W’s grandfather - Prescott S. Bush, a former US Senator, W’s father - George Herbert Walker Bush, no. 41, ex-President and ex-CIA Director, W’s younger brother - Jeb Bush, the current Governor of the 2nd largest state in the US, Florida, and George Walker Bush himself, serving his 2nd term as the currently sitting President (no. 43) of the United States, this is a book that one probably would not find in bookstores on display openly in Republican or red states. I might be wrong.

I was intrigued when I chanced upon the book on sale in Wal-Mart in California last year, a Democratic state governed by Arnold Swarzenegger. Back then I was impressed about the level of democracy in America. After all, this is a book that exposes not-so-nice things about the current president. Since its release though, The Family has stayed in the top ten list of books borrowed in US public libraries.
