The Blues, Grey and a new day

without comments

After all that jazz, I’ve finally caught myself singing the blues. Some days I seem to have misplaced the motivation to work.
Now where’s that bugger?

Then I start thinking about early retirement, when I can do the things that I’ve always wanted to finally do.

Fly to someplace, really live there for awhile, taking in all the different sights and sounds, and experience life in all its diversity and glory, without a care in the world.

Learn the piano.
Perform in a small dilapated cafe for an audience who doesn’t give a damn about music, jazz especially.

Pick up a paintbrush and create acryllic works of art.
According to my ex-schoolmates I draw pretty good caricatures.

I suspect that somewhere deep within the chambers of my capitalist heart lies a dormant artist longing for creative expression.

And so it is.

But. Now that I think about it..

If that day were to come, I’d be concerned if it were to come too sudden-ly. I’d miss out on the journey in building a great career and the adventures that life brings. The hills, the valleys and the meandering roads that make up the topology of each page in the Book of Life.

For a young man in his 20s, there is still very much waiting to be done, places to be, experiences to learn from, and people to meet.

At the end of the journey, I could only hope to see a man standing tall in the company of close friends from all walks of life, having enjoyed living life in all its rich flavours, in possession of worldly wisdom accumulated through the years, and in a position to give back to society.

A new day starts with tomorrow.
