The Group of Eight
I was recently accepted into the final year of a computer science degree course at the University of Adelaide! Yipee!
It would most certainly be a tough job juggling with the demands of work and the rigorous syllabus on this part-time course but I reckon it would be worthwhile since: a) the university is ranked up there in The Group of Eight; b) I’d get to complete my tertiary studies once and for all since having a diploma isn’t worth much these days; (although certainly the good thing is that it gave me advanced entry due to accumulated credits) c) my current work schedule supports it; and d) it sets the stage for a masters programme later on.
I have also found out recently that in order to qualify for an Aussie PR, one need not necessarily have to stay in Australia for two years within five years, which is an additional factor in coming to a decision to accept the offer.
This month’s on-and-off trainings introduced me to a few interesting characters including Dendy, Jemmy and Sulaiman from our offshore priority banking unit, the latter invests in a similar way to I. The chief reason for our modus operandi is the increasing equity risk premium placed currently on the global markets. However I believe that there must surely be a better way.
