Moving from Blogger
After some deliberation, I’ve decided to move my blog from Blogger to WordPress.
When I first started out, all that I wanted was simply to start blogging. After 5 months of blogging about anything from my travelling to movie and book reviews, I realised that Blogger lacked a crucial feature – to be able to sort my posts into categories.
To continue on, IMHO it’d be like pilling cabbage on dirty socks – real messy. Of course to be fair, there are hacks available to enable categories in Blogger, like this one by Oldcola. Another one using del.icio.us tags. There’s even a hack using Google search.
Pyra, Blogger’s parent company was bought by Google in 2002. Knowing there’s enough demand for categories, (in fact that’s a real understatement) and the fact that Blogger has the force of Google behind its development now, (Refer to Evan William’s blog) there’s a good chance Blogger might implement this feature soon.
However, I still decided to move the blog to WP. Why?
Some of the reasons are written in the extensive comparison on Blogger.com vs WordPress.com by Jaya Jha.
